One of the rarest blue diamonds in the world, known as the “Mediterranean Blue Diamond,” was unveiled for the first time at an exhibition during a Sotheby’s auction in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
According to reports, this 10.03-carat diamond, estimated to be worth around \$20 million, is set to be auctioned on May 13, 2025, in Geneva.
The “Mediterranean Blue Diamond” was displayed at an exhibition that started on April 10 at the “Bassem Freih Foundation” located on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi’s cultural district.
According to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the “Mediterranean Blue Diamond” has received the highest possible grading for a blue diamond. This grading is due to its exceptional cut, color purity, and high brilliance, which places this diamond among the most popular and valuable blue diamonds.
Blue diamonds are highly sought after due to their rarity and natural beauty, and this particular specimen, with a weight of 10.03 carats and exceptional quality, is expected to set new records at the Geneva auction.
Before the auction, the “Mediterranean Blue Diamond” will embark on a global tour to be displayed in other cities. It will be introduced to collectors and enthusiasts in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and New York before the Geneva auction.
